The seating wall at this Cabo wedding was made of topo chico

Ashley and Johan first met four years ago on a South African safari. Johan was the tour guide, and Ashley was on her very first safari with her parents. After spending days together, talking, laughing, and exploring, they felt a strong bond. Johan sent Ashley his itinerary shortly after Ashley returned to the States following their two-week safari together. The rest is history! After traveling long-distance around the globe for the first and a half years, Johan moved to the United States. The couple, who still visit home frequently and run his South African safari business, Thaba Tala Safaris while he runs it, were so excited to begin this exciting new chapter!

Both the bride and groom made sure they were on the same page: fun was their number one priority!

Johan and Ashley had the same vision before they started planning their wedding. They wanted something classic, beachy, stunning, but also natural. The main priority was to have fun. The couple chose neutrals and whites as their wedding color palette. They added dusty blue accents to bring out the ocean tones and to add a little color. They felt truly present and loved every moment of their wedding day. But their favorite and most fun moment was when they saw the sparklers go off behind them after their first dance and the music started. All of their guests joined them. The dance floor filled up immediately, and they were thrilled to have their friends join them.

They were all about adding personal details to their DIY projects.

The couple made a unique seating chart by filling original Topo Chico glass bottles with ranch water cocktail, lime, and one of their favorite drinks. The couple also wanted to include something South African, so they named their signature drinks and bar menu after traditional safari terms. (The Mufasi) Johan’s South African family and guests loved the personal touch. It was a personal touch that the bride shared with her closest friends. The bridesmaids, best friends, and bride wore blue dresses. This was one of her favorite details of the wedding.

Baby’s breath went Coastal with this couple’s unique beach ceremony style

Native Floral Studio brought Ashley and Johan’s dream to life, from the details of a baby’s breath coming out of sand along the aisle to an incredible square ceremony frame. The florals also made it onto their carrot cake wedding cake with cream cheese frosting! Ashley wore Harry by Make With LoveBridal to complement the styling. Instead of favors, they created beautiful welcome bags. These included a beach bag that guests could reuse, filled with essentials such as sunscreen, makeup wipes and eye masks. They also included Advil, Electrolytes, Advil Eye Masks, and a personalized letter.

Advice from the Bride After the Event

“Hire a planner!! If you’re getting married in Cabo, hire The Cabo Wedding CompanyThat is the best decision I ever made. Eren Carrillo, my wedding planner, is a master at planning and designing. I love design and planning, but I couldn’t have done it as well. She didn’t miss a thing! She was always asking me if I felt stressed during the planning phase. Thanks to her, I didn’t. Weddings shouldn’t be stressful; they should be exciting and fun. I kept reminding myself that this was a day I would never forget. I took the time to breathe, enjoy everything, and take in all of it. “I truly enjoyed that day, and I feel blessed that we were able to experience it in the way we did.”
